Program Information
Nestled on 30 acres of creek-side beauty in Dickson, Tennessee, Cactus Creek Horsemanship is a place where faith and horses come together.
We believe that we are all connected through the love of God. We believe that in every relationship—whether with humans or horses—feeling seen, heard, understood, and appreciated is essential.

While riding is part of what we do, we are not a traditional riding school. Our primary goal is to nurture a trusting and meaningful relationship between our students and the horses. If riding skills improve, that’s a great added benefit, but our main focus is on the connection that our students feel with the horses.

Our program goals are Connection, Communication, and Confidence.

Through thoughtful sensory activities with our horses, we cultivate connection and two-way communication. This creates an environment of joy and understanding for students and horses. We also include fun and challenging games to build resilience and confidence.
Our students may be invited to participate in activities such as:
-
Grooming, painting, or washing the horse.
-
Tacking up the horse with various tack options, including halters, bridles, reins, bareback pads, and saddles (English or Western).
-
Physical contact by petting, hugging, moving around on, laying on, or standing on the horses back.
-
Leading, sitting on, or guiding the horse at a walk with or without assistance.
-
Leading, sitting on, or guiding the horse through an obstacle course at a walk with or without assistance.
-
Trotting or cantering with or without assistance.
-
Participating in games while horseback and/or on the ground with horses.
-
Trail walks leading, sitting on, or guiding the horse in the gazebo area, orchard, field, or creek.
